Amazing game .....Thursday night.....
Superleague at the National Basketball Arena
               Hoops 124    Moycullen 131

In the second last game of the regular season, the fans in the National Arena in Dublin were treated to a triple overtime thriller with Moycullen grabbing a draamatic win in the third period of extra time. Moycullen played their best basketball of the season, hitting a regulation time high of 91 points with Puff Summers, Cian Nihill and Garnett Griffin scoring freely throughout the game. Hoops led by ten at one stage but brilliant team defence hauled Moycullen back into the game and Garnett Griffin tied the contest with two free throws at the end of regulation. Moycullen had to come from behind again in the first overtime, Puff Summers hitting a last second jumper to send the game into a second overtime. Hoops again took the lead with 6-9'' American centre dominant in the paint but Puff was now on fire and he again tied the contest with a super score at the end of the second ovetime. The third period was all Moycullen , their fitness, scoring touch and team defence finally cracking the Hoops resistance for a brilliant seven point win. Puff Summers hit an amazing series of scores on his way to a 49 point total with Cian adding 26 and Garnett 22. But it was the overall team spirit and effort in which eleven players saw court time that hauled them to tremendous win.

Final game of the season on Sunday in Cork v Neptune . The team will be looking tomake it three wins in a row to finish the season on a high.

The men's Superleague team rose to the occasion in their final home game of the season, producing a magnificent team display to beat an inform Ulster Elks by six points in NUIG. Puff Summers ignited the big home support with a blistering 22 first half points, Elks having no matchup for his quickness and scoring touch., Moycullen set the pace from the start and at one stage had built a sixteen point advantage, the backcourt pace of Dowd, Loughnane and Summers creating all sorts of problems for Elks. Garnett Griffin had his best game of the season, matching up very well with the Elks american. Garnett's power dunk at the end of a fast break was one of the highlights of his confident performance. Cian Nihill closed down Irish senior International Ian O'Boyle and added 21 points in an impressive display, including two clutch baskets in the final minute to seal the win. Veterans John and Nollaig Cunningham, sharing forty minutes court time between them showed all the experience gained over long careers with two big performances.. John hit four invaluable points in the last quarter and Nollaig grabbed some great boards, including an offensive rebound in the last play of the game.

The game was sponsored by by former Moycullen senior players, many of whom were present to cheer on the new generation.

Final game of the season (Neptune stadium , Cork)
Neptune 100 Moycullen 51

An inform Neptune team, building for the playoffs in a week's time, were physically much too strong for Moycullen in Cork on Sunday. Neptune have added 7-3'' Jason Benett to their roster ahead of the playoffs and with their regular American , 6'6;'' Juwann James in sparkling form they domnated the game in the paint. Moycullen ,playing without the unavailable Cian Nihill , gave a spirited performance, with all twelve players getting good court time. Stephen Thummon and Garnett Griffin impressed again while Nollaig Cunningham won some great boards against much bigger opponents.
While Moyculen were disappointed in the result against Neptune, they will take a lot of satisfaction from their five wins in their first season n the Superleague and the fact they were competitive in almost every game despite conceding height and power in the paint in every game.

So close for superleague team
Moycullen came within a whisker of an away win against UCD Marian in Dublin on Sunday. The final score was 81 to 79 with the outcome in the balance right to the end. Puff Summers had a sparkling game, scoring thirty four points in the absence of Nate Fritsch. With the Moycullen scoring rate much higher than in recent game they had wrestled the momentum from Marian in the final quarter. The loss of Cian Nihill with five fouls with three minutes left was a big blow and the experience of the Meaney brothers tilted the balance back to Marian in the closing two minutes.

18th February....... Ladies Galway League

Moycullen went under to Titans for the first time when they lost by ten in the Division One clash on Thursday night in Westside. Playing without the injured Roisin Nihill and also without Marie Deegan, they struggled at the defensive end throughout the game Two of the younger players, Roisin Higgins and Roisin McNairney had impressive games in their first time starting for Moycullen. The league is now entering the closing stages with Moycullen holding 5 and 4 winning record .

Superleague Played in Calasanctius College, Oranmore

Moycullen 57 UCD Demons 75
The final score does not do justice to a fantastic effort by the home team.
Moycullen neutralised the Demons guards but a combined forty points from the Demons three big inside foreign players tilted the balance in favour of the Cork team. In a hugely enjoyable game that thrilled the support, Moycullen time and time again fought their way back into the game but their ultimate undoing was a poor one from 20 three point shooting reutrn that allowed Demons secure a flattering win

Garnett Griffin (5), John Cunningham (2) , Puff Summers (2), Michael Dowd, Dylan Cunningham, Mindaugas Kurchekovas, Nollaig Cunningham, Paul O'Brien, Eoghan Maxwell

One of the highlights of the game was James Loughnane's defensive job on one of demons key Irish players Carlton Cuff.  Cuff has domnated games this season but was totally outplayed by the dynamic Loughnane.

Moycullen led by 18 points at one stage in the third quarter but Elks got a run and closed the gap to four.
